John Garrad is an accomplished executive with over 25 years of leadership experience in safety engineering and asset management across the rail and aviation sectors in both Australia and the United Kingdom.
In April 2025, John was appointed Chief Executive of Transport Asset Management (TAM), where he leads the organisation’s strategic direction, operational performance, and long-term asset stewardship. His leadership is centred on delivering safe, sustainable, and reliable transport infrastructure outcomes aligned with regulatory and community expectations.
Prior to this, John served as the Executive Director of Assets, Safety & Environment at the Transport Asset Holding Entity (TAHE), a role he assumed in November 2022. During his tenure, he was responsible for overseeing critical assurance functions and driving risk-based reviews to ensure compliance with legislative requirements and licence obligations.
John has spent the past 13 years in Australia’s freight rail sector, holding senior roles on high-impact and complex programs. His career began in the United Kingdom’s aviation sector, where he built a strong foundation in engineering governance and safety leadership.
