Sue brings more than 30 years of executive leadership experience and over a decade of governance experience across public, private and listed organisations in New Zealand and internationally. She has held CEO, CFO, COO and Director roles across New Zealand, Australia, Asia, Europe and the United States, giving her broad experience across government, banking and finance, energy, infrastructure, technology, property, construction, transport and logistics sectors.
Throughout her career, Sue has led organisations through periods of growth, transformation and change, including start-ups, joint ventures, mergers and acquisitions, divestments and business turnarounds. She has extensive experience in funding and financing, treasury management, debt capital markets and transactional banking, together with a strong understanding of operating in highly regulated environments.
Sue’s capital markets experience includes leading multi-currency global bond issuances as Group CFO of Auckland Council, senior executive roles with both Westpac and the Commonwealth Bank of Australia, and serving as an Independent Non-Executive Director of NZX-listed Mainfreight Limited. These roles have provided deep experience in financial markets, governance, risk oversight and stakeholder management, often in environments subject to significant public, regulatory and market scrutiny.
Sue currently serves as Deputy Chair and Chair of the Risk and Assurance Committee of Te Waihanga – New Zealand Infrastructure Commission and, more recently, as Chair of KiwiRail Holdings Limited and New Zealand Railways Corporation. She is known for her strategic perspective, collaborative approach and commitment to integrity, transparency and doing the right thing.
