Mark Smith

Mark presents over 30 years of executive engineering & technical leadership across rail and transport infrastructure projects, programs, operations and maintenance for both clients and delivery partners. Mark is skilled in fostering government, industry, and academia partnerships, demonstrating exceptional relationship building capabilities to generate business in private sector and deliver outstanding public value for Government agencies.
As an established rail engineering professional, Mark specializes in rail systems, conventional and digital train control systems, systems integration and system and safety assurance development and deployment.
Mark has recently taken up a role with the Australian Rail Industry Standards Organisation (ARISO) to lead reform of the agencies standards development framework. The strengthened approach will define how ARISO develops, delivers and maintains its standards, supporting harmonisation and national consistency objectives.
Mark is a Chartered Electrical Engineer and a Fellow of Engineers Australia, and a recognized ‘Executive Engineer’ with the college of leadership and management.
