Raymond O’Flaherty is CEO of Metro Trains Melbourne, driving the company’s purpose every day to move Melbourne. Raymond is leading the organisation through one of the most significant periods of transformation and growth by delivering the largest ever program of new rail infrastructure projects to ensure that the city rail network will meet Melbourne’s growing needs.
Raymond puts a strong focus on teamwork which ensures that each of the over 7,000 employees at Metro work together and alongside its many key partners and stakeholders in order to deliver the best every day for passengers.
With Metro as one of Victoria’s largest employers, Raymond has overseen a renewed focus on safety and wellbeing with a mindset of Safely Always. He is strongly committed to fostering a diverse and inclusive workplace that attracts and develops the best people. Prior to becoming CEO in July 2018, Raymond was the MR4 Bid Director, where he successfully led a refranchising process for Metro and negotiated a new 7 year (plus 3 year option) contract with the Victorian Department of Transport & Planning (DTP) from November 2017, which was recently extended by DTP for the maximum term to November 2027.
Raymond has also served as CFO at Metro, as well as prior roles as CFO with Transdev Transfield Services Australia JV (operating Yarra Trams) and Director Corporate Finance at PwC. He is a dual Irish and Australian citizen.
