Want to have a sneak peek at Queensland’s new train fleet?
The Queensland Train Manufacturing Program (QTMP) will build 65 new six-car passenger trains at a purpose-built manufacturing facility at Torbanlea, in the Fraser Coast region.
In June 2023, Downer was awarded the contract by the Queensland Government to deliver QTMP. As part of this contract, a state-of-the-art train ‘mock-up’ has been delivered to Brisbane.
The 46-metre-long high-fidelity model, including driver’s cab and two cars, was built by Allweld Manufacturing and provides an overview of the interior of the QTMP trains.
A low fidelity mock-up was utilised for months of testing as part of a co-design process by members of the disability sector, train drivers and passengers, and bike users
The high-fidelity mock-up incorporates the feedback coming from this and ensures the QTMP fleet will be the most accessible in Australia.
