Steve has over 41 years’ experience in the rail industry and is regarded as one of the most experienced global rail experts, having worked in the UK, Middle East, India, USA, Australia and Asia Pacific regions.
Steve’s role as the Executive General Manager for John Holland Rail & Transport, is responsible for planning, leading and executing the full end to end rail portfolio of rail engineering, design and construction and the Operations and Maintenance businesses. Steve is also responsible for the strategic direction, growth and bidding activities along with day to day operations reporting to the group board. This role holds full P&L accountability for the Rail division and associated consortiums and joint ventures.
Prior to joining John Holland, Steve was Managing Director Global Transport with Serco, where he was responsible for the operational and strategic aspects of its global transport business.
Steve is also a highly experienced Board Director and has added significant value in oversight roles of major rail contracts, extensions and enhancement programs in both the heavy and light rail/metro operational areas, ensuring they drive customer satisfaction and are delivering commercially successful outcomes. Steve is experienced in both frontline rail operations as well as representing corporate interests, with a proven track record in motivating high performing teams and engendering a culture and discipline of achieving targeted outputs.
