Alia is the Project Director for City and Southwest Metro, responsible for the conversion of the T3 Bankstown Line to metro standards between Sydenham and Bankstown and closing out commercial matters and contracts within City following its opening. She is particularly passionate about leading this Australian-first metro upgrade, having grown up locally around Punchbowl and Wiley Park.
Alia brings extensive experience managing complex brownfield rail projects from her time as Executive Director- Rail Delivery at Transport for NSW, where she led station upgrades, corridor infrastructure works under the More Trains More Services program, and the delivery of Automatic Train Protection (ATP) technology. Prior to joining Sydney Metro, Alia held a range of leadership roles across Transport for NSW, the Department of Premier and Cabinet, and urban management consulting companies.
Alia has qualifications in public policy, urban management and planning, and is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. She is a passionate long-distance runner, having completed 5 ultra-marathons and more than 30 marathons, including Berlin, Boston, Chicago, New York, and London.
