Piero McCarthy, Business Development Director at Go-Ahead Rail, Australia and New Zealand: Piero has over 20 years’ of international rail experience, starting in frontline roles including train guard and train driver before moving into senior operations leadership at Govia Thameslink Railway (GTR), the UK’s largest rail franchise. Piero then joined Go-Ahead’s Business Development team in 2024.Piero helped to establish Go-Ahead’s Australia and New Zealand headquarters in Melbourne in 2025, and is tasked with expanding the Group’s operations and partnerships across the region, including being a part of Go Places Melbourne (a consortium of Go-Ahead, ACCIONA and Tokyo Metro).
