Andrew Byrne is Managing Principal of Acuity Australia and a senior commercial leader with 15 years of experience across major infrastructure and transport programmes in Australia and the UK. He has built his career in complex delivery environments involving high-value contracts, challenging stakeholder interfaces, live operational assets and large-scale claims, and dispute issues. He is particularly recognised for his leadership in commercial strategy, revenue recovery, dispute avoidanceand the practical implementation of collaborative contract models.
Andrew has held senior commercial roles across client, consultant and Tier 1 contractor environments, giving him a balanced perspective on how commercial, governance and delivery systems operate in practice. His rail experience includes High Speed 2, Crossrail, Transport for London, Network Rail, South West Metro Conversion and Parramatta Light Rail Stage 1. Across these projects, he has led commercial teams, implemented governance processes, managed distressed commercial positions, improved cost certainty and supported the resolution of major claims and disputed accounts.
In Australia, Andrew has also provided senior commercial leadership across Sydney Water’s major capital portfolio, including the implementation of Sydney Water’s NEC contract (the first of its kind in the APAC region). His work has included strategic advisory support to executives and legal teams on major claims, delay, quantum and contract issues across collaborative and traditional contracting models.
Andrew is a Fellow of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors, the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators and the Australian Institute of Quantity Surveyors, and holds degrees in Commercial Management and Quantity Surveying, and Construction Law and Arbitration.
