Alia Karaman is Project Director, City & Southwest Metro, leading the delivery of one of Australia’s most significant rail transformation projects. Through the conversion of the Sydney Trains T3 Bankstown Line to metro standards between Sydenham and Bankstown, the program is integrating Sydney’s south-west into the city’s end-to-end metro network, connecting established communities to Australia’s first fully integrated driverless metro system.
With more than two decades of experience across transport infrastructure, public policy, planning and urban development, Alia has led major transport programs and provided strategic leadership in program management, governance and delivery assurance.
Alia holds qualifications in public policy, urban management and planning and is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. Outside work, she is an accomplished endurance athlete, having completed five ultra-marathons and more than 30 marathons worldwide.
