Wavetrain Level Crossing Warning System interprets the acoustic signals generated by the train on approach, and activates warning measures for the level crossing users. The technology is patented across the world. It has been tested on four continents, in all climatic conditions for more than thirty years combined.
The system comprises of two sensors mounted per rail, and one Control Unit per site. The sensors and the location case are installed at the level crossing, giving this system an unusual advantage of minimal maintenance and cabling.
By enhancing our continuous monitoring with AI and Machine Learning, we open for prediction of failures and degradation in both infrastructure and rolling stock. This capability paves the way for more proactive and efficient maintenance strategies.
The Wavetrain Level Crossing Warning System is an end-to-end CENELEC SIL 2 and IEC 61508 certified product that detects approaching trains using acoustic sensors. The acoustic sensors are mounted on the rails and listen for the distinct sound energy generated by approaching trains. The digital data is analysed by a nearby Control Unit, which activates the customer’s preferred warning measures at the appropriate time.
All components of the system are installed at the crossing level. This both reduces the need for cabling, increases track worker safety and gets Boots Off Ballast. The Wavetrain system is therefore quick to install and easy to maintain, all at a minimal lifecycle cost.
