FCC Construcción is positioned as one of the top construction companies globally, operating in over 25 countries and providing all areas of engineering and construction under an integrated business model. FCC Construcción is renowned for delivering complex infrastructure across:
• Civil works – roads, railways, airports, hydraulic works, maritime, tunnels, bridges, underground
• Building – residential and non-residential, hospitals, stadiums, stations museums, office, and maintenance facilities
• Industrial – Industrial and energy facilities including LV and HV electrical systems and mechanical installations, communication and control systems.
Our rail capability is demonstrated through the delivery of more than 3,500km of railway – 1,500km of high-speed rail lines, 450km of metro/subway and 100km of tramway. In the last 10 years alone, we have constructed over 200 stations and more than 10 SMFs and we provide the ongoing maintenance of more than 1,900 kilometres of high-speed rail lines, over 8,800 kilometres of conventional rail lines and 90 kilometres of metro network.
Our award-winning rail infrastructure projects include:
Riyadh Metro (Saudi Arabia) – a $13.2B (AUD) project that included 64km of underground and elevated track, 26 stations, two stabling and maintenance facilities and a state-of-the-art GOA4 signalling system that controls the driverless trains.
Madrid-Barcelona High-Speed Line (Spain)– the construction of 203km of high-speed line between Madrid and Barcelona, including 174.7km of superstructure works and the installation and commissioning of 174km of ballast and ballastless track.
Malaga Metro Line 1 and 2 (Spain) – FCC led the design, construction, rollingstock supply and continues with the network operation for the 35-year concession period. With a total length 11.2 km, of which 70% is underground, the project includes 17 stations, depot and maintenance facilities (SMF), and a fleet of 14 vehicles.
Our success is attributed to FCC’s innovative approach to rail integration. With a deep appreciation of the entire rail network and operation, FCC takes complete ownership of project and system integration. This enables quick identification and resolution of interface and integration matters through a structured framework. This layered framework is currently implemented in some of our most complex rail projects across the globe including:
GO Expansion (Toronto Canada) – On-Corridor Works project covers system-wide infrastructure upgrades, including the addition of 205km of new track and the electrification of 687km of the rail network. It comprises major improvements to platforms and tracks, construction of new maintenance and storage facilities, and installation of train control and signalling systems within active corridors.
Scarborough Line Extension – Involves the construction of 3 stations, and their associated bus interchanges, eight shafts and an 8km extension of the rail network including a cut and cover tunnel. The project also includes the integration of the new track, traction power, substations, ventilation, signalling and communication systems into the existing TTC (Toronto Transit Commission) Infrastructure.
Since establishing in Australia in 2020, FCC Construction has been engaging in significant rail infrastructure projects. Our involvement spans key initiatives including Melbourne Airport Rail, Sydney Metro and Logan and Gold Coast Faster Rail. We are committed to expanding the capability of the Australian construction market by implementing our proven integration approach and demonstrating our reputation for solving complex infrastructure challenges through our innovative, patented solutions on projects in Australia.
