Rajiv Punia is a senior cybersecurity leader with over 20 years’ experience leading technology operations, programs and securing safety-critical and nationally significant infrastructure across rail, telecommunications, utilities, banking and healthcare sectors. He is accredited at top level of cyber security with his CISSP & C|CISO certifications.
Currently leading cybersecurity for Sydney Trains, Rajiv oversees the protection of complex operational technology (OT) environments including signalling, digital train systems, telecommunications networks, power systems, and safety-related control platforms.
His work focuses on integrating cybersecurity into rail safety engineering, assurance processes, and enterprise risk governance — ensuring that cyber risk is treated not as an IT/OT issue, but as an operational and safety priority.
Rajiv has led large-scale security transformation programs across transport and critical infrastructure environments, aligning international standards such as IEC 62443, NIST CSF, SOCI Act obligations, and rail safety assurance frameworks.
Rajiv is passionate about strengthening collaboration between cybersecurity professionals, safety engineers, regulators and system integrators to ensure Australia’s rail systems remain safe, resilient and trusted in an increasingly connected world.
