The new Maidstone Tram Maintenance Depot is a success story of sensitive urban renewal and Victoria’s steadfast commitment to public transport.
Built on the old Maribyrnong migrant hostel site, this project will be the home of Melbourne’s next-generation G Class trams and has been designed as a state-of-the-art facility to maintain and house most of the new fleet.
The facility will include 11 maintenance roads, a wheel lathe, and a fully appointed workshop designed specifically to service the G Class, and potential to stable more than 60 trams.
PPE Requirements
- Long trousers and long sleeve shirt
- Steel Caps advisable – closed-toe, flat shoes to be advised once tours have been allocated
- Glasses, high-vis vests and hats will be supplied by the tour host
