Wayne Johnson is the Acting Chief Executive Officer at ARTC, working with the company’s Executive team to oversee a team of more than 2,000 people across Australia who deliver the vital rail network service leading to the transit of more than 155,000 train journeys each year.
As an unashamed champion of rail as a cost efficient and environmentally responsible mode of transport, Wayne works with ARTC’s national team to build, maintain and operate rail lines across the country to help move freight and passengers, with a particular focus on achieving this in an increasingly safe and reliable manner.
Passionate about creating inclusive working environments and building teams of dynamic leaders, Wayne has more than 15 years’ leadership experience across Australia’s resources, freight and logistics industries, including mine, port and rail operations.
In his substantive role he’s responsible for the commercial and operational performance of ARTC’s Hunter Valley rail network. As part of this, he manages supply chain logistics where he constantly strives to increase efficiencies for customers, including an ongoing focus on network resilience.
In leading the ARTC team, Wayne is acutely aware of the company’s responsibility to deliver on near-term initiatives regarding sustainable safety improvement, network resilience strategies, technology introduction and operating efficiencies that are imperatives to ARTC’s customers, Shareholders and other rail industry stakeholders.
