Diogo Taddei

Diogo Taddei is a sports architect and planner (and enthusiast) with nearly 20 years of experience in the field. He began his career as part of the design team of Rio’s Olympic Stadium Nilton Santos and since then he has been engaged in a vast number of projects and sports events, including the FIFA World Cup the Olympic Games. His experience goes beyond the design of sports infrastructure. He has a solid expertise in master planning of sports complexes and events. Spanning from early stage  operational requirement, transport and mobility strategies, to prescribing guidelines and design criteria for stadiums internationally. He has recently assisted Paris to win the 2024 Olympic Games bid and is since then, an advisor for the Organising Committee, leading the consultancy team.

For the FIFA World Cup, as an advisor, of behalf of the Organising Committee, he was in charge of the supervision of the design development of the 12 stadia used at the 2014 Brazil World Cup, regarding design compliance to the FIFA Stadium Guidelines, the implementation of the temporary installations and the stadia’s legacy use. He played a key role in the design and redevelopment of the Maracana Stadium

As architecture manager at the Olympic Park for the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio he played an important role in the design development of the Park’s master planning and the sports venues including the Velodrome, Olympic Aquatic Centre, Tennis Centre and the Carioca Arenas, which hosted basketball, judo, taekwondo, fencing and wrestling.

Diogo is Head of Sports at EGIS, a global multidisciplinary engineering, design and operations group, where he has been since 2016.
